13th General Election: An Outlook......!!!
Firstly, on the note about the "Chinese Tsunami". Overall BN has 133 and Pakatan Pembangkang(PP) 89 parliamentary seats. This time BN suffered its losses from the impact of "Chinese Tsunami". The chinese made a resounding statement in not voting for MCA and Gerakan. Which simply means that racial politics is not dissipating, and though that people are gathering around bigger issues. In the statements made by Dato' Sri Najib, BN is strategically moving towards a moderate right stand, and the overwhelming lost of Perkasa, MCA, Gerakan, and its component parties sends a clear message. The extreme racial right wing is losing its shine.
Secondly, on the call for unfair electoral process. This will be hard for PP to prove. Very hard indeed because it is clearly a fair election on a level ground. However, it is important to note that, rally organized by PP is without doubt improper and very disturbing to many......!!!
Fair election because, in many seats in fact the opposition did win convincingly. It came back stronger then before, and the outcome is clear. The opposition wins the urban seats, and has the middle class as its voting base. GE14 is about retaining this base, and coming back with a clear offering for a broader audience. BN has Sabah and Sarawak which is a huge base for its parliamentary seats. When PP lost several of its Kelantan, Selangor, Kedah and Perak seats it created a clear path for BN. PP must accept the GE13 result!!!
Just hating BN, and crying foul over the negative issues isn't enough to attract the moderates. A great strategy would be for PP to consolidate. There were enough cracks in the alliance that allowed for the BN campaign to squeeze through and divide the voters. Juz a plain reminder to the voters especially the chinese voters for the GE14, they also need to know that they are not jumping into the lions den when the voters cross over.
Malaysia has a lot of potential. There is much to be done. The internet is still a great platform to bind the same belief system for both BN and PP. Used correctly and wisely, it will bring the masses. Strategy must be tailored in winning the 'war of perceptions' either whole truth, half-truth or total lies......Propagandists have a great resposibility ahead.
There are five more years of nation building to do and god willing, this may have a better outcome for BN next time. Perhaps for a coliation (BN) that has a clear agenda of what it is all about, and one that shows the country that it will benefit from its leadership. MatMerapu strongly believes that BN will do better in the GE14.....!!!
